Today we’d like to introduce you to Melina Prado.

Q: Hi Melina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A: My fiancée Joseph and I began 2020 optimistic about our goals, which included getting married and buying our first home. Of course, COVID-19 pulled the rug out from everyone’s plans. When everything shut down, I lost my job as a marketing strategist for the oil and gas industry. Joseph, who was in supply chain management, kept his job, thankfully. But it quickly turned into 60-plus-hour workweeks. It just became really stressful, really fast, and it forced us to rethink how we looked at our routines, our relationships, and our work-life balance. That, for us, was the upside of the pandemic. It forced us to re-evaluate the important things. And it was the inspiration for our new company: THRUit™.

Q: Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A: Life is never a smooth road. Being laid off and going through this pandemic was tough all around. But thankfully, I have a huge support system. Specifically, that support system is Fabian Prado. He is my brother and best friend. But he is also my mentor. He launched 906 CMVI Holdings, an independent, minority-owned, and founder-controlled business of friends based in Austin, Texas. Now, he’s a successful entrepreneur helping his little sister navigate the waters of a new business. Launching a business is never easy. If it were easy, everyone would do it. I am fortunate and blessed to be able to leverage my brother and his resources to start my own.

Q: We’ve been impressed with THRŪit, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A: We know that our happiness is largely influenced by our health and wellness. In turn, health and wellness can be achieved by establishing habits. That’s the basic idea behind THRUit™. We offer the first and only regimen of essential daily vitamins and supplements designed to address people’s three primary pain points. One, a multivitamin to support your overall health. Two, a supplement to help restore and balance your mood. And three, a premium broad spectrum oil to aid a good night’s rest. This regimen is pre-packaged, vegetarian-friendly, and affordable. And there are no secret ingredients. Everything is listed on the label and the website.

Q: What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
A: Houston is one of America’s most diverse big cities. Being born and raised here has shaped every aspect of my life, exposing me to so many cultures from around the world. It teaches you to accept and learn from others, which is so rewarding for me personally. Also, I get to try all kinds of cuisines without flying all over the globe. If I was going to criticize my hometown, I’d probably complain about the traffic, just like every other Houstonian. Also, with the humidity, you really can’t have a good hair day. It’s just impossible.
